Who qualifies for Hospice Care?

Hospice begins when curative treatment is no longer expected to be effective and is designed to provide comfort care for individuals in the last 6 months of their life. Once this time frame has been identified, Family Hospice and Palliative Care can begin services immediately.

To determine if you or a loved one is appropriate, Family Hospice and Palliative Care encourages you to contact us at 800-355-2817 for a complimentary consultation. You may also confer with your physician to determine if hospice services are appropriate for you.

How do I pay for Hospice services?
Hospice services are a free benefit for Medicare and Medicaid recipients.  Family Hospice and Palliative Care also accepts payment from Commercial insurance companies for which there would be little or no charge to the insured.

The hospice benefit covers costs related to the life-limiting illness, including medications, medical equipment, medical supplies and the valuable time and expertise of our team of professionals. In addition, Family Hospice and Palliative Care can also provide hospitalization for symptom management and respite care to offer the caregiver relief.

A financial assessment can be completed for persons not covered under insurance. Regardless of your financial situation, call Family Hospice and Palliative Care today at 800-355-2817 to determine how we can assist you!

We would highly recommend [Family Hospice and Palliative Care] as a support service to those in need of caring and compassionate end of life care.
-Testimonial from Director of Nursing in Nursing Facility

Can I receive antibiotics while on hospice care?
Yes, if the antibiotic will help the patient to be more comfortable and this is what the patient and representative decide.

Can I go to the hospital while on hospice care?
Yes.  If it is related to the terminal diagnosis, it would be for General Inpatient Care or Respite Care as described above and covered by the hospice.  If it is unrelated to the terminal diagnosis, the stay would be billed to your insurance company.  However, with the expertise of our staff, many symptoms can be taken care of in your residential setting without a trip to the hospital.

What if I am still on hospice care when 6 months is up?
As long as you continue to fit the criteria for hospice care, you may continue to receive it.

Can I reach someone in the evening or on weekends if I have a question or need help?
Yes.  We have an on-call team of nurses who are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week who will come to your place of residence to assist you with whatever is needed.

Family Hospice and Palliative Care wants to meet you wherever you may reside, and encourages you to call 800-355-2817 today to experience our way of caring.
